Windows 8 Password Reset
Problem:
You’ve lost your Administrator password for Windows 8 or Windows 7. The computer is not bound to a domain and you don’t have a password reset disk (does anyone every make one?).
Solution:
Get out your Windows 8 Installation DVD and boot from it.
Open a Command Prompt from the list of recovery options.
In the CMD type copy c:windowssystem32sethc.exe c: and press Enter.
Type copy /y c:windowssystem32cmd.exe c:windowssystem32sethc.exe and press Enter.
Now close everything and reboot computer normally.
At the login screen, Tap Shift five times to pop up Command Prompt.
Type net user username password Replace username with your username and password with a new password. Make sure your password meets complexity requirements or it won’t save.
Exit Command Prompt and you can log in with your new password.
