How To Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic Disk

How:

Download TestDisk

Run the program.

Select Create to create a log file.

Select the drive to convert and choose Proceed.

Select the partition table type – Intel

Select Analyse

Select Proceed

Press Enter to continue on the next page

To convert the drive from Dynamic to Basic, select Write and press Y to confirm.

Why:

• You want to image the hard drive to a larger drive.  Imaging tools don’t support dynamic disks.
• Your drive is no longer recognized by Windows due to corruption.  After converting you can run recovery tools on the drive.
